What you Need
- 1 cup of pineapple peels
- 2 cups of filtered water
- ½ inch fresh ginger
- 1 tbsp raw honey (where to get it)
- High speed blender like Vitamix (where to get it) or Nutribullet (where to get it)
- Double mesh strainer (where to get it)
- Silicone spatula (where to get it)
- Mason jar & glass straw (where to get it)
Directions
- Begin by scrubbing your ripe pineapple very well using a vegetable brush, dish soap and warm water.
- Next you can soak the pineapple in a large pot of water with 1-2 tbsp of vinegar for 5-10 minutes. This is optional but is good if you want to deep clean the pineapple if it had a lot of dirt on it.
- Lay the pineapple horizontally and remove the crown either by twisting it off using both hands or using a sharp paring knife.
- Then gently cut the pineapple into thick circles from the bottom.
- Now cut the peel off the pineapple circles and keep them aside. You can also chop up the pineapple into chunks and freeze them for later.
- Boil 2 cups of water in a pot then add the pineapple peels.
- Simmer on medium low heat for 7 – 10 minutes. The longer you boil, the more flavorful it will become.
- Switch off heat and allow it to cool completely.
- Add the boiled & cooled pineapple tea + peels to your blender.
- Also add ½ inch piece of ginger and 1 tbsp of honey.
- Blend till smooth.
- Filter it through a double mesh sieve with the help of a spatula.
- Pour into a glass and enjoy!
