Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacs that form in the ovary. They are common and usually form during ovulation. However, some can grow big and become inflamed, causing pain and discomfort. Luckily, there are some natural remedies to try help manage these symptoms and reduce your ovarian cyst. Let’s learn how to use apple cider vinegar for ovarian cysts in this article.
What is Apple Cider Vinegar?
Apple cider vinegar is made through fermentation of apple juice. It has long been used in food and also as a remedy for many health conditions.
What makes apple cider vinegar a great natural remedy is that it is rich in probiotics. These are good bacteria that when consumed, multiply in the gut helping balance gut flora. They say disease starts from the gut and science has shown that insufficient gut bacteria can lead to a number of problems including autoimmune conditions, chronic pain & fatigue, low immunity, anxiety and so much more. How Apple Cider Vinegar Works for Ovarian Cysts
I’ve talked about how apple cider vinegar is good for managing PCOS symptoms but how about ovarian cysts? Many women have been taking apple cider vinegar as a remedy for dissolving ovarian cysts and preventing them from coming back – and guess what? It’s working! Here are the ways apple cider vinegar works for ovarian cysts:
- Balances good bacteria in the body– We have good bacteria in our bodies – not just in the gut. Apple cider vinegar has good bacteria in it and when consumed, these good bacteria enter our bodies and populate the existing bacteria. This helps balance the beneficial flora in our bodies, helping keeping our systems in optimum health.
- Helps with weight loss– Doctors will tell you to keep your weight in control because it’s well known that unwanted weight gain causes the formation of ovarian cysts. Apple cider vinegar helps because it prevents you from overeating, and aids in weight loss.
- Helps reduce insulin resistance– Taking apple cider vinegar helps reduce high insulin levels after consuming food. Having diabetes and multiple ovarian cysts are both associated with having high levels of insulin (insulin resistance) in the blood.
- Contains potassium– Potassium deficiency can also lead to the growth of ovarian cysts. Eating foods containing potassium such as bananas, apple cider vinegar, etc can help replenish low potassium in the body.
- Alkalizes the body– An acidic body is one of the indicators for disease. Taking apple cider vinegar helps regulate our body’s pH, preventing reproductive disorders such as heavy/painful periods, ovarian cysts, fibroids, etc.
- Reduces inflammation– Ovarian cysts can become inflamed and painful. Apple cider vinegar has anti-inflammatory properties that helps reduce inflammation in the body.
How to Use Apple Cider Vinegar for Ovarian Cysts
- Morning ACV Honey Drink– This is by far my favorite method of taking apple cider vinegar every day. What you need to do is mix together 1-2 tsp apple cider vinegar, 1 tsp raw honey in a glass of warm water. You can add other healing ingredients such as ½ tsp of ground cinnamon and 1 tsp of chlorella powder. Mix well and drink it on an empty stomach 30 minutes before breakfast.
- Apple Cider Vinegar and Black Strap Molasses– This combination has been shown to help heal excessive menstrual bleeding and also reduce ovarian cysts. Simply mix 1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar and 1 tbsp of blackstrap molasses in a cup of warm water. You can drink 1-2 cups of this daily to help with ovarian cysts.
Where to Get Apple Cider Vinegar
Make sure you purchase pure organic 100% pure apple cider vinegar with the ‘mother.’ Avoid synthetic apple cider vinegar you find at the grocery store. I recommend purchasing Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar which is the best I’ve been using with great results so far!
Take Care
Please consult with your doctor if you have an ovarian cyst(s) to find out if treatment is necessary. Some cysts cause severe pain and may need to be medically monitored or surgically removed.

I have two small simple cysts that have been present since at least 2019. I’m in perimenopause and have very infrequent periods. I was told by several doctors that the cysts would go away after a few menstrual periods, but the problem is I don’t believe I’m ovulating and I’m not having periods. I started using natural progesterone cream in April 2021 because I realized that because I wasn’t ovulating, I wasn’t producing any progesterone. I’ve had several panels of tumor markers done, all of which are normal and numerous transvaginal ultrasounds. When I had an ultrasound done in November 2021, my gynecologist thinks the cysts might have shrunk a tiny bit. Would it be worth it to try the blackstrap moleasses and ACV drink? I’m not asking for medical advice because from reading above you can see I’ve been under care of doctors since 2019.

I swear by daily cinnamon (add ceylon cinnamon to anything you can-1/4 teaspoon at a time-coffee, desserts, shakes, whatever you can stand), 325 mcg kelp, and 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar. I few years ago, I had ultrasound & had cysts. Dr. was going to refer me for surgery again. Brought me back several months later to check again & they were gone (I previously had surgery for them & was mad at myself that I didn’t know about this before). I have slacked off on vinegar & I can feel cramps back again. Starting back up again & hoping to get it to go away again.
