How Black Seed Oil Helps with Pregnancy
- Contains antioxidants. When you’re having a hard time conceiving, it’s best advised to pack your diet with antioxidant-rich foods. Antioxidants fight off free radicals that steal oxygen form healthy cells, which causes them to not function properly. These excess free radicals in the body are the major culprit for many ailments including infertility. By taking black seed oil, you will help fight off these oxygen-scavenging free radicals in the body.
- Regulates menstruation. Do you suffer from irregular periods? Perhaps it is due to PCOS or ovarian cysts. Taking black seed oil can help bring on menstruation naturally.
- Fights inflammation. Inflammation is the root cause of all disorders in the body including infertility. Too much inflammation in the body also causes chemical pregnancies and miscarriages. Taking black seed oil can reduce inflammation in PCOS sufferers, those with ovarian cysts and fibroids.
- Increases blood flow to the uterus. Black seed oil helps stimulate blood flow to the uterus, which brings healthy nutrient-rich blood to the ovaries, fallopian tubes and uterus. This allows them to function properly and help you conceive easily.
- Helps shrink fibroids. Yes, black seed oil is good for naturally shrinking fibroids! You can read more about it in my other article here: How to Use Black Seed Oil to Shrink Fibroids
- Helps with blocked fallopian tubes. Black seed oil is good for stimulating blood flow which helps unblock clogged fallopian tubes. Massaging it daily over the abdomen after slightly warming it can work wonders for blocked fallopian tubes.
- Remedy for ovarian cysts. Ovarian cysts are one of the biggest causes of infertility. Black seed oil is a great natural remedy for ovarian cysts. It has anti-tumor properties that helps reduce ovarian cysts.
How to Use Black Seed Oil to Get Pregnant
There are two ways on how to use black seed oil to get pregnant: internally, that is, consuming it and externally, which means applying it on your body.
Below, we shall see the ways to take it internally as well as apply it externally to help get pregnant naturally:
Ways to Take Black Seed Oil to Get Pregnant
Some people take black seed oil on an empty stomach on its own, however, for most people this is too harsh for the throat and stomach walls. Below are more palatable ways to take black seed oil:
How much black seed oil to take? You can take 1-3 teaspoons of pure black seed oil in 24 hours. However, it’s advisable to take one teaspoon if you’re using it for the first time, to get pregnant.
- With milk. Milk helps wash down the black seed oil down the esophagus for those with sensitive stomachs. Take one teaspoon of black seed oil followed by a glass of milk.
- With orange juice. Orange juice (or any other fruit juice) is a good way to take your black seed oil. Consume one teaspoon of black seed oil followed by one glass of fresh orange juice.
- With raw honey. Mixing 1 teaspoon of black seed oil with 1 teaspoon of raw honey then consuming is another good way of taking black seed oil. It’s best to use organic or raw honey for a healthy and easy conception. You want to avoid the artificially processed honey.
- With chamomile tea. Make a cup of chamomile tea by steeping one chamomile tea bag in one cup of boiling water for 15 minutes. Next, stir in ½ tsp of black seed oil and sip slowly. Chamomile tea is best but you can also use green tea, rooibos tea, etc.
How to Apply Black Seed Oil to Get Pregnant
- Massage it above your uterus. Rub a few drops of black seed oil between your palms and massage it gently on your abdomen over your uterus and ovaries. Warming the black seed oil before you use it is a bonus for the oil to penetrate better. You can also apply a damp warm washcloth after applying the oil.
2. Make a black seed oil pack. Have you heard of castor oil packs? Black seed oil packs are just the same but using black seed oil instead of castor oil. What you need to do is:
- Warm up about ¼ cup of black seed oil in a pan
- Soak a cotton/wool flannel in the oil
- Wring it out to remove the excess oil
- Lie down and place the flannel on your lower abdomen above the uterus
- Leave it on overnight (make sure you throw an old towel over your bed so the sheets don’t get stained. Tip: You can also put a heating pad on top of the flannel for a few minutes for the oil to absorb deeper.
3. Make an essential oil + black seed oil fertility blend. Get a 2 oz amber glass dropper bottle. Add 1 oz of black seed oil, followed by 3 drops geranium essential oil, 3 drops clary sage essential oil, 3 drops of lavender essential oil and 3 drops of bergamot essential oil. Cap the bottle and shake it gently to mix. Use this as a massage blend on your lower abdomen daily.

Take Care
Before using black seed oil, please consult your doctor, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or taking any medication (low blood pressure, diabetes or a bleeding disorder).
For topical application, it’s best to first perform a patch test to make sure you don’t have a negative reaction to the oil. Do this by rubbing a few drops of the oil on your inner wrist or elbow and watch the area for any negative reactions for at least one hour. If there’s no itching, redness or rash, then it’s safe for use.
Always avoid your eyes and mucous membranes when using black seed oil.
Black seed oil might slow blood clotting and increase the risk of bleeding. It can also slow down or stop the uterus from contracting. Other side effects may include lowering of blood sugar levels and blood pressure levels in some people.

Has anyone actually gotten pregnant using black seed oil? There is limited feed back regarding black seed oil and conceiving. It helped my husband’s sperm count but I don’t know what it does concerning women’s fertility. I heard it stops menstrual cycles and I use BSO but I just started. Any responses are really appreciated.

I have pcos and hashimotos, I have not been able to get pregnant and keep a pregnancy on my own. Within two months of taking black cumin seed powder mixed with honey I had my first normal cycle and got pregnant on it. I did wean myself off of the black cumin seed powder within a week of finding out we were pregnant because I couldn’t find enough information on the safeness of it. I had a healthy pregnancy and delivered a healthy baby girl.
