Hormone-Balancing Superfoods
We shall be using two major hormone balancing superfoods in this smoothie. They are maca powder and flaxseed! Let’s see the benefits of these two ingredients to balance hormones below:
1. Maca
Maca is an ancient Peruvian superfood that has been prized for its fertility boosting powers. It contains a good amount of nutrients such as amino acids, vitamins and minerals. Maca helps balance hormones because it is an endocrine adaptogen. It contains no hormones but the nutrients in it support natural hormone balance in females.
It has a nutty flavor that makes this smoothie even more delicious. Maca also boasts other benefits such as increases energy, raises libido, fights stress, reduces menopausal symptoms and promotes fertility.
2. Flaxseed
Flaxseeds are rich in lignans and omega 3 fatty acids that support hormone balance. Lignans have phytoestrogenic effects that can help lower estrogen levels when they are too high and raise them when they are too low.

Maca & Pumpkin Hormone Balancing Smoothie Recipe
What you Need
- 1 cup almond milk (where to get it) or coconut milk (where to get it)
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 tsp maca powder (where to get it)
- ½ cup pumpkin puree *canned/fresh (where to get it) or 2 tbsp pumpkin powder (where to get it)
- 1 tbsp maple syrup (where to get it)
- 1 tsp chia seeds (where to get it)
- 1 tsp ground flaxseed (where to get it)
- ¼ tsp pumpkin spice powder (where to get it)
- High speed blender like Vitamix (where to get it) or Nutribullet (where to get it)
- Glass smoothie jar and straw (where to get it)
Directions
- In a blender, add 1 cup non-dairy milk milk, 1 peeled and sliced frozen banana, 1 tsp maca powder, ½ cup pumpkin puree or 2 tbsp pumpkin powder, 1 tbsp maple syrup, 1 tsp ground flaxseed and ¼ tsp pumpkin spice powder.
- Blend away using a high speed blender till smooth.
- Pour into a tall glass/mason jar. Top with chia seeds and flaxseeds and drink up your hormone balancing maca pumpkin smoothie!
